Szechuan Peppercorn

Szechuan peppercorns are a bit different from other peppercorns in the sense that they are not hot. Rather, they have a sweet, burnt flavor similar to cloves. They can flavor everything from pork and pineapple dishes to meat sauces, sweet and sour shrimp, stir fry, and Chinese Soups.  Many chefs note the spice imparts a tingling sensation similar to carbonated drinks.
